Waiting, So Long
The concept for "Waiting, So Long" is a drop ceiling with LED light panels made to fit the shape of the gallery/space it is shown in. The ceiling hangs low to the floor, about 57 inches off the ground.
This version of "Waiting, So Long" was made for Sculpture Month Houston's eighth annual exhibition titled “Solid State – A Celebration of the Material World”. The Exhibition was curated by Volker Eisele. The location was Site Gallery Houston at The Silos at Sawyer Yards.

For Sculpture Month Houston the drop ceiling was cut into a circle to match one of the round grain silo footprints. Through the doorways into the space, you were met with a boundary line created by the drop ceiling. Above the ceiling line it was dark, but you could see the top of the drop ceiling, a space typically not interacted with. Below, light emitted from panels inserted into the drop creating a cool but intense glow.
Viewers could choose to enter the work by crouching down and walking under the ceiling. They could also navigate around the work via a 2 foot gap between the edge of the ceiling and silo wall, or simply view it from one of the doorways.
